St. Mary The Virgin Anglican Church

456 Curling St. Corner Brook

Dear members of St. Mary’s Church family,

This Sunday, September 6, will be the first Sunday for on-site worship. While this will be a welcome occasion for some, it will not be so for everyone. Some people will feel anxious about coming back and others, for various reasons, will not be able to come back to the building. Please know that you are in our prayers and we will continue to provide online worship for the foreseeable future.

In order to open, we will have to abide by Government regulations. That will mean:

  1. We have to document all those who come to worship. To help with this, please pre-register by calling the church at 785-5055 or by emailing
  2. No singing is allowed.
  3. People must sit in bubbles and keep a safe physical distance from others.
  4. There is to be no mingling in the foyer either coming or going.
  5. People need to follow the directional arrows - we enter via the centre aisle and leave via the side aisles.
  6. Masks must be worn coming and going. Masks may be removed when you are seated or reading but put back on when moving around.

This will not be worship as we know it, but it will be worship and we will be together as a community. Here in NL, we have so few cases that it is easy to become complacent, but we must be vigilant as there are vulnerable people among us. The last thing we want is for someone to

get sick, or worse, because we have been careless. It will also not last forever, so we need to be patient.

I look forward to seeing those of you are able to come to the Church and over the coming months, I hope to meet with those of you who can’t.

Yours in Christ,

The Rev. Deacon Cynthia Haines Turner
