Dear members of St. Mary's,
This past week, the Government moved us to Level 2 alert and allowed church buildings to reopen. However, it will not be the way we are used to being in Church. There are restrictions - a maximum of 50 people (or 50% of the building's capacity, whichever is less), physical distancing, Holy Communion in one kind - consecrated bread, hand sanitizers, no congregational singing, no coffee and food fellowship following service and a number of other regulations. Over the next while, the Vestry will work to put the necessary protocols in place so that we can safely reopen.
In the meantime, the Vestry had a special meeting this past week and made the following decisions:
- we will offer worship online only for the month of August, after I have officially started my ministry with you
- beginning September 6, the Church will be open for worship, subject to government and diocesan regulations. You will receive more information before then so that you know what to expect.
- Although we will not be in the building until September, there will however, be an on-site Flower service on August 23 at 2:30pm. If the weather does not cooperate, it will be rescheduled to August 23 at 2:30 pm.
- The Annual Meeting which was postponed due to the shutdown will take place on September 13 at 2:00 pm. At this point, we are not to use Church halls so it will take place upstairs in the Church with appropriate distancing.
